In December 2023, we opened our first temporary exhibition ‘Only Pain is Mine’. The exhibition talks about women’s experiences in Siberia, discusses their everyday effort in exile, and also talks about emotions. It consists of artistic works on canvases by the artist Edyta Urwanowicz, which were created on the basis of the testimonies of Sybiraks.

The exhibition is intended to give food for thought: What did it mean to be a woman in Siberia? What difficulties did women face when they found themselves in a critical situation? What experiences connect them with the victims of contemporary conflicts? Its curators: Karolina Mosiej-Zambrano, Katarzyna Śliwowska and Magdalena Zięckowska-Tuchlińska, sought to show the universality of the Siberian fate of women, which is why the exhibition also includes reports from other areas affected by armed conflicts.

We invite you to the closing day! 

April is the last month during which you will be able to see the exhibition. Closing day of the exhibition will take place on April 26, 2024 at 6:00 p.m. at 1 Węglowa Street in Białystok.

During the event, in addition to the curator’s tour, you will be able to watch a film which is a collection of materials regarding the creation of the exhibition as well as the exhibition itself and additional events accompanying it.

Moreover, presentation of works prepared by participants of the workshops accompanying the exhibition, conducted by the artist Paweł Matyszewski, is also planned. The works will be seen until Sunday (April 28). You can read more about the workshops HERE.

The event will also be an opportunity to talk to the ambassadors of the exhibition — Sybiraks Teresa Borowska, Jolanta Hryniewicka, Wanda Kościuczuk, Janina Rutkowska and Barbara Sokólska.
