The conference entitled “Siberia and Poland – common places in literature and history” will be held in Białystok, at the Sybir Memorial Museum at 1 Węglowa Str., on April 20-21, 2023.

The event is under the scientific patronage of the Interdisciplinary Commission for Research on the History of Siberia of the Polish Academy of Sciences and the media patronage of the “World of Sybir” portal (www.swiatsybiru.pl).

The organizers of the conference aim to analyze the most important issues concerning centuries-old Polish-Siberian relations. These will include literary parallels, connections between Poland and Siberia in painting and music, the image of Siberia in ego-documents, the myth of Siberia and the exile, and finally the culture and Polish society in Siberia – journalism, activities of Polish researchers, problems of adaptation and identification of Siberian Poles.

The conference will be attended by members of the so-called Siberian Commission with professor Zbigniew Wójcik at the helm. The organizers are especially counting on the applications of young scientists, wanting to interest this group of researchers in the subject and to encourage them to continue their studies on Polish-Siberian issues.

The conference will be held in Polish.

Persons interested in participating in the conference are asked to send a completed application form by the 20th of February, 2023 to the following address: syberiauw@gmail.com:
