On the eve of Mother’s Day, in other words, on Thursday, May 25, 2023 we invite you to our multimedia room at 5:00 p.m. for a meeting entitled “We survived thanks to our mothers”.

It will be devoted to the latest publication of the Museum: “Mother. Catalogue of the Photography Collection of the Sybir Memorial Museum”. This volume presents the images and fate of mothers who, while in exile, were trying their best to keep their children alive and healthy, and cared for their upbringing in the spirit of Polishness. The meeting concerning the album will also be an opportunity to reminisce.

Olga Gordiejew will host the meeting and conversation with Katarzyna Śliwowska, Head of the Collection Department and author of the catalog.

During the event, it will be possible to purchase the publication at a promotional price.

On Friday, May 26, 2023 at 2:45 p.m. and on Saturday, May 27, 2023 at 5:45 p.m., we invite you to a unique tour of our permanent exhibition in the footsteps of Siberian Mothers. The exhibition repeatedly mentions mothers of exiles, who owe their survival mainly to their heroic mothers.

During the tour, you will be able to hear, for example, a fragment of the letter by Olga Klein to her nanny, written on the eastbound train, concerned about the fate of her little daughter. Memories from the exile of Hieronima Dzierma, Krzysztof’s mother — an actor known for the role of the parish priest Antoni from Królowy Most will also be quoted. We will learn more about Ewa Felińska, the mother of the saint — Zygmunt Szczęsny Feliński — who was exiled to Siberia in 1839.

Tickets to tour the exhibition in the footsteps of Siberian Mothers, for the price of 30 PLN and 35 PLN, can be purchased at the Museum ticket office or on our website.
