Another month full of events begins at the Sybir Memorial Museum. Apart from continuing the cyclical initiatives, such as the “Exhibit of the Month”, in March we also propose a new formula of visiting the permanent exhibition.

A female perspective on exile — March “Exhibit of the Month”

On the eve of International Women’s Day, on March 7, 2023 at 10:00 a.m, the next edition of the “Exhibit of the Month” series will take place. In March, we will take a look at the female perspective of exile. The souvenirs belonging to Hilaria Borowska, who, like thousands of other women, was affected by the Soviet repressions during World War II, will be presented.

Special offer for women on the occasion of their holiday

On March 8, 2023 the Sybir Memorial Museum offers women a special sightseeing offer. On Women’s Day, all the women who buy a ticket to visit the permanent exhibition at the Museum ticket office will be able to rent an audio guide free of charge in any language.

From 7 to 9 March, you will also be able to take advantage of the promotional offer in our museum shop — both stationary and online. Selected publications related to female characters will be available at lower prices.

“The Problem of Guilt and Punishment: Germany versus Russia” — the next edition of “Siberian Spirit”

On March 22, 2023 at 5:00 p.m there will be another event as part of the “Siberian Spirit” series. Basil Kerski — political scientist, essayist and cultural manager, since 2011 director of the European Solidarity Center in Gdansk will be professor Krzysztof Czyżewski’s guest. The conversation will focus on guilt and punishment for crimes, and how Germans and Russians are (or not) answerable to their history.

“Through Sybir to Mexico. Odyssey in the Rhythm of Mariachi”

How did it come about that some Sybiraks ended up in… Mexico? Where can their traces be found today? We will know the answers to these questions on March 30, 2023 at 6:00 p.m at the Sybir Memorial Museum.

Joanna Matias, the character of the documentary “Santa Rosa: Odyssey in the Rhythm of Mariachi”, went to Mexico, following in her family’s footsteps, which will be presented during the next event in the series of meetings with travelers and artists. Joanna Matias will share with her participants an exciting story about discovering her family’s history. The screenwriter and producer of the film – Piotr Piwowarczyk will also take part in the meeting.
