Zofia Pełkowa and her daughters Danuta and Dobrochna were taken from Cholojow, Tarnow Voivodeship, to Kazakhstan on April 13, 1940.

After six years she could return to Poland. On the way back she took a cast iron dish (czugun), used in Kazakhstan to cook on the cookers.
