The conference, organized by the Sybir Memorial Museum and the Polish Center for Torture Survivors, accompanies the opening of the temporary exhibition ‘Only Pain is Mine’.

The exhibition presents women’s experience of Siberia and poses the following questions:

What did girls and women face in Siberia? What is femininity in a limit situation? Is there only pain left for a woman who has experienced violence?

The scientific conference “Woman and War” encourages us to look at the stories about the women of Siberia in a broader context. We will talk about women who found themselves in the inhuman land, experiencing violence and rebuilding their lives after dramatic experiences.

Izabela Trybus, president of the Polish Center for Torture Survivors will be the moderator at the conference.
