We invite participants of different generations to weave their memories together into a symbolic textile of memory and community.
Participants will use fragments of clothing and fabrics that hold personal significance to create textile compositions inspired by family stories. The workshops draw inspiration from arpilleras – Chilean textile artworks that became a way of preserving and expressing stories, emotions and memories of loved ones. The stories of the Sybiraks, as well as the strength of memory and family bonds, will provide the starting point for the creative process.
The collective work, created as a collage of individual pieces, will be presented at the closing event of the exhibition Arpilleras – Threads of Memory.

The workshops will be led by Monika Surowiec – fashion designer, educator, researcher and academic lecturer. Her work focuses on pre-owned and reused textiles, exploring their history and potential for reuse.
Dates: 6 September, 27 September and 11 October 2026
Time: 10:00 a.m.–1:00 p.m.
Price: PLN 20 per person for one workshop; PLN 50 per person for all three workshops
The workshops accompany the exhibition Arpilleras – Threads of Memory.
