Siberian Album was commissioned by the Sybir Memorial Museum and created in collaboration with the Białystok Branch of the Aleksander Zelwerowicz National Academy of Dramatic Art in Warsaw. It is the third part of the Triptych of Memory series.
This time, the creators focus on the post-war lives of the Sybiraks – their return to a country that remained within the Soviet sphere of influence, their decisions to emigrate, and their attempts to rebuild their lives after experiencing deportation and exile.
The production combines poetic, documentary and musical theatre. Testimonies, poetry, music and stage movement come together to tell a story of exile, return and the need to preserve the memory of the lives and experiences of the Sybiraks. Objects also play an important role – photographs, suitcases, documents and small personal mementoes that evoke individual stories.
The third part of the Triptych of Memory is also a tribute to museum professionals – those who search for traces of the past, document individual stories and preserve them for future generations.
