From the very beginning of its activity, the Sybir Memorial Museum has payed attention to adapting its offerings in terms of accessibility for people with disabilities.

The aim of our content was to reach to the widest possible audience and that is why introducing induction loops, audioguides with Polish Sign Language interpreter, and audio descriptions was our priority. On the other hand, at the permanent exhibition visitors will find 3D-printed models of exhibits. A model of the permanent exhibition is also available for visitors.

We have also taken care of architectural accessibility. Visitors with disabilities have access to additional parking spaces, entrances adapted to the building and exhibition. There are elevators in the building that take into account the needs of people with disabilities. There is also the possibility of renting equipment for people with mobility disabilities, such as wheelchairs and walkers. Assistance dogs are always welcome.

Another area of activity in terms of accessibility is education, which is why the Sybir Memorial Museum was once again a partner in an event regarding expanding accessibility. During the conference ‘Progress in Cultural Accessibility,’ participants had the opportunity to discuss how to create offerings in cultural institutions for people with disabilities in a modern, intelligent, and cost-effective manner.

Issues related to the accessibility of exhibitions, shows and workshops were discussed. An important emphasis was 3D printing and its role in creating tactile aids. Interested guests had the opportunity to test it.

Participants also visited the permanent exhibition at the Sybir Memorial Museum with an audioguide with audio description.
