The meeting was attended by, among others: the Mayor of the city of Białystok, Tadeusz Truskolaski and his Deputy Mayor, Przemysław Tuchliński, Councilor – Katarzyna Jamróz, as well as the President of the Association of Siberian Deportees, Jolanta Hryniewicka and the Province Governor’s Representative for War Veterans and Victims of Oppression, Jerzy Bołtuć.

The meeting was chaired by Sławomir Sawczuk, who is a journalist of the Editorial Office of Programs for National Minorities of Radio Białystok.

During the meeting, two Ukrainian refugees, who found shelter in Białystok with their children shared their experiences.

— Although the experiences of Poles and Ukrainians are separated by decades, they have a lot in common — said the Mayor of the city of Białystok, Tadeusz Truskolaski . — They are accompanied by the same difficult emotions. Two years after the beginning of Russian aggression against Ukraine, these similarities are particularly painful. We all hope that this cruel war beyond our eastern border will end as soon as possible — he added.
