Already in 2022, apart from Poles, Lithuanians representing the Center for Research on Genocide and the Resistance Movement of Lithuanian Inhabitants and Ukrainians also took part in the Bialystok Peloton, and thanks to the cooperation with leading museum institutions from the Baltic States and Ukraine as part of the Museums Network, our idea was taken up by other cities.

In August 2023, we will witness the three editions of the Memorial Peloton: in Białystok, Vilnius and Riga, where it takes the form of a historical walk. The selection of places on the routes of the events results from a common assumption — wish to commemorate the victims of Soviet terror — for example, in the capital city of Lithuania, the route will run next to the prison buildings in Łukiszki, and end in the Tuskulany memorial complex.

It is worth mentioning that the victims of Soviet repressions will also be commemorated at this time by the participants of the summer history school of the National Museum of History of Moldova — an institution that joined the group of institutions gathered in the Museums Network this year.

  • Historic Walk in Riga: August 21, 2023, 11:00 a.m.
  • Memorial Peloton in Vilnius: August 23, 2023, 2:00 p.m.
  • Memorial Peloton in Białystok: August 26, 2023, 5:00 p.m

We invite you to participate in all three events, especially in the Bialystok Peloton.

We are waiting not only for cyclists, but also users of roller skates and scooters. The event is not a sports competition — it is a peaceful ride through the streets of the city.

You’re welcome!
