In the nineteenth century, Siberia was explored by Polish linguists, geographers, geologists, archeologists, ethnographers, naturalists. It is worth to know these unusual people. One of them was Bronisław Piłsudski (Marshal’s brother), who, using Edison’s ethnograph recorded the talks and singing of indigenous peoples of Sakhalin and saved from oblivion the language of Ainu people. Who were the others…?
At the exhibition we present the portraits of 15 explorers of Paulina Kopestyńska’s authorship — a painter of Yakutsk origin.
