The protagonist of the monodrama is a young Red Army officer, Mikhail Zubov, who enters Polish territory on September 17, 1939. Based on the novel by Sergiusz Piasecki, the story, filled with irony and bitter humor, reveals the mechanisms of Soviet propaganda and the mentality of the “Soviet man.”

The stage history of Diary of a Red Army Officer began in 1992. Andrzej Jakimiec’s adaptation and direction, together with Krzysztof Ławniczak’s performance, have ensured that the character of Mikhail Zubov has become a lasting part of the history of Białystok theatre. For more than three decades, the production has remained in the theatre’s repertoire.

The performance at the Sybir Memorial Museum will take place as part of events commemorating the 87th anniversary of the Soviet aggression against Poland. The Museum is the organizer of the event, while the Aleksander Węgierko Drama Theatre in Białystok is the event partner and organizer of the performance.
