On the 84th anniversary of the first mass deportation, representatives of the authorities and residents of Białystok paid tribute to those who remained forever in the ‘inhuman land’.

February 10 marks the 84th anniversary of the first mass deportation to Siberia. In order to commemorate the victims of these dramatic events from the past, Przemysław Tuchliński and Rafał Rudnicki — Deputy Mayors of the city of Białystok, Jolanta Hryniewicka — President of the Białystok Branch of the Association of Siberian Deportees, Sybiraks and their descendants and the delegation of the Sybir Memorial Museum, lit candles and laid flowers in front of the Monument-Tomb of the Unknown Sybirak in Białystok.

Tribute to all the deportees was also paid in front of the Monument-Sign of Remembrance of the Polish Golgotha ​​of the East and in front of the monument dedicated to the Heroic Mothers of Siberia.

Another event commemorating the anniversary of the first mass deportation is the Sybir Memorial Run. The Sybir Memorial Museum and the Białystok Biega Foundation organize for the sixth time an event combining amateur sport and commemorating those who ended up in Siberia over several hundred years of Polish history. The race will take place on February 10, 2024 at 6:00 p.m.
