International Women’s Day reminds us of the remarkable role of women in the history of Siberia. Their lives, marked by hardship and the struggle for survival during deportations, remain an important lesson for us. This was emphasized by the Director of the Sybir Memorial Museum, Professor Wojciech Śleszyński, who welcomed the guests with the following words:
“Women’s Day is a perfect occasion to appreciate all the women around us – for their courage, sacrifice and determination in surviving in Siberia and building a better future. We extend our warmest wishes to all the ladies: good health, happiness, positive energy, and we hope to meet again next year in the same wonderful company.”
Best wishes were also extended to all Sybirak women by Jolanta Hryniewicka, President of the Białystok Branch of the Association of Sybiraks.
All the ladies present at the event were given flowers as a token of gratitude for their testimony of dedication and resilience.

The event was enriched by a concert performed by Dorota Białkowska and Bartłomiej Łochnicki, accompanied by Marcin Nagnajewicz. The artists presented a repertoire full of emotion and memories, inviting the audience to share in the musical experience of this special day.

The ceremony concluded with a sweet reception, which became an opportunity for conversations and moments spent together in a warm and friendly atmosphere.
