Established in 2019, the BohaterONy Award recognizes institutions, companies, non-governmental organizations, and individuals who take actions to preserve the memory of Poland’s history and its heroes. The award aims to showcase their work and its outstanding impact, as well as to encourage others to promote Polish history.
The Sybir Memorial Museum has been nominated in the Institution category and will compete online with four other nominees for the 2025 Audience Gold BohaterON statuette.
NOMINATION DESCRIPTION
The nomination honors the Sybir Memorial Museum for its exceptional commitment to preserving the memory of Poles deported to the East and for its modern and moving forms of historical education. For connecting the past with the present in the spirit of truth, respect, and dialogue between nations. The Sybir Memorial Museum in Białystok demonstrates that historical memory can be vibrant, inspiring, and deeply human — and that patriotism is expressed not only through paying tribute to heroes but also by safeguarding their history for future generations.
