Today, the Sybir Memorial Museum hosted a lecture entitled ”Polish-Kazakh history in 35 scenes”, which attracted numerous guests.

On 15 September, the Sybir Memorial Museum hosted a lecture entitled “Polish–Kazakh History in 35 Scenes”, which attracted a large audience. The presentation by Zhandos Karinbayev focused on the history and relations between Poland and Kazakhstan.

The speaker was welcomed by Prof. Wojciech Śleszyński, Director of the Sybir Memorial Museum, and Jolanta Hryniewicka, President of the Białystok branch of the Association of Sybiraks, who emphasised the shared past and the cordial relations between the two nations.

Zhandos Karinbayev, lecturer, editor and publicist, member of the Scientific and Expert Council of the Assembly of the People of Kazakhstan, co-author of the book ”The History of Kazakh-Polish Relations as Exemplified by Prominent Figures of Both Nations,” presented facts illustrating the ties between Poles and Kazakhs from the 19th century to the mid-20th century.

Among the figures discussed were Adolf Januszkiewicz, Gustaw Zieliński, Bronisław Zaleski and Mustafa Shokay, as well as numerous Polish deportees. Karinbayev highlighted the help and support provided by Kazakhs to deported Poles, as well as the significant contribution of Poles to the development of Kazakhstan. The lecture provided an opportunity to reflect on the rich shared history of both nations. The author emphasised the importance of nurturing our relations, based on mutual kindness and understanding.
