Join us for this unique event, where the histories of Poland and India intertwine. Polish writer, screenwriter, and author of numerous adventure and historical books for children and young adults, Monika Kowaleczko-Szumowska, together with Indian artist of Polish descent, Apeksha Niranjan, will share the moving story of Polish children who sought shelter in India during the Second World War.
The story, enriched with the personal memories of Apeksha Niranjan, granddaughter of Wanda Nowicka — one of the rescued children — will be illustrated with archival materials and a stunning performance of classical Indian Bharatanatyam dance, known for conveying stories through intricate footwork, expressive facial expressions, and symbolic gestures. Apeksha Niranjan’s solo performance will bring to life India’s spiritual and cultural heritage, highlighting themes resonant with Polish tradition.

This event will not only recount the wartime experiences of Polish children but also offer an opportunity to reflect on the unique cultures of Poland and India. Through intercultural dialogue, it will highlight similarities and shared values connecting the two nations.
