Jan Cieplak’s – the Archbishop of Vilnius – pipe

Jan Cieplak was one of the well-known and influencial priest of Catholic church in Russia. After the Bolshevik rewolution he was imprisoned and sentenced to death. Thanks to the public’s pressure the death sentence was replaced with 10 years of imprisonment. Finally, in 1925 Cieplak was exchanged for communist prisoners and expelled to Poland. He was nominated for the Archbishop pf Vilnius but he didn’t make it. He died during his journey through North America.

This pipe was carved by hand and it was given to him by Sybiraks, who were thankful for his service in Russia and USSR.
