The Sybir Memorial Museum invites you to the premiere of its first audiobook, based on the memoirs of Colonel Romuald Lipiński, Biography Written by History, on 9 September 2025 at 5:00 p.m. The audiobook premiere will feature special guest Adam Woronowicz, a highly regarded film and theatre actor from Podlasie who narrated the recording.
Join Adam Woronowicz and Prof. Wojciech Śleszyński, Director of the Sybir Memorial Museum, for a special meeting hosted by Agnieszka Czarkowska – Head of the Radio Reportage and Documentary Studio at Polish Radio Białystok – and Marcin Zwolski, PhD, Head of the Museum’s Research Department. This unique event will reveal the ideas and behind-the-scenes story of the audiobook, offer insights into the actor’s craft, and feature excerpts from the memoirs performed by Adam Woronowicz.

The book Biography Written by History was published in 2024 as part of the Memories and Testimonies series, which the Museum has been issuing since its inception. Its release coincided with the 80th anniversary of the Battle of Monte Cassino, while the creation of the audiobook marks a special milestone – the 100th birthday of its author, Col. Romuald Lipiński.
The selection of Adam Woronowicz to record the audiobook was deliberate. The actor has long been passionate about history and participates in projects that preserve the testimonies of past events. While the history of deportations and the Anders Army’s combat trail is widely known, Woronowicz highlighted that Col. Lipiński’s memoirs are particularly valuable for their emotional depth, offering vivid and moving portrayals of people, events, and personal experiences. This emotional dimension was central to his interpretation, requiring not only a faithful rendering of the content but also sensitivity and the ability to convey the author’s feelings.
