Summer Family Workshops
TUESDAYS – Conservation Workshops
Time: 1:00 p.m.
Duration: 60 minutes
Age range: 8–12 years
The workshops will introduce participants to the work of a museum conservator. The programme includes a short visit to the conservation studio, a presentation of conservation tools, and an introduction to basic conservation techniques. During the practical part of the workshop, each participant will create their own photo frame using the methods they have learned. The activities develop manual skills and help participants better understand how museum objects and historical artefacts are preserved.
WEDNESDAYS – Calligraphy Workshops
Time: 1:00 p.m.
Duration: 60 minutes
Age range: 10–14 years
These workshops combine elements of museum education with creative work involving handwriting. The session begins with a short visit to the permanent exhibition, focusing on the section devoted to diaries, where participants learn about their importance and role in documenting history. This is followed by a calligraphy workshop. Each participant will decorate the first page of their own diary, which they will be able to take home.
THURSDAYS – Secrets of the Peoples of Siberia – NEW!
Time: 1:00 p.m.
Duration: 60 minutes
Age range: 7–10 years
Siberia is a remarkable region inhabited by many different peoples and ethnic groups. During the workshops at the Sybir Memorial Museum, participants will discover some of them. They will have the opportunity to examine authentic Siberian clothing. One of Siberia’s most important legends will be explored through a multisensory experience. The workshop will conclude with a creative activity: participants will create a collage depicting the traditional clothing of the Buryats.
FRIDAYS – Polish Children in the Land of the Rising Sun
Time: 1:00 p.m.
Duration: 60 minutes
Age range: 7–10 years
Every Friday during the summer holidays, we invite families to take part in workshops exploring the story of Polish children who were rescued one hundred years ago from Siberia, a region devastated by civil war and famine. Participants will learn how the children found themselves far away in Russia and how, with the support of the Japanese government, they managed to reach the “Land of the Rising Sun”. A variety of activities, including those inspired by Japanese culture, such as Kamishibai theatre, will help participants discover this remarkable story. At the end of the workshop, participants will decorate their own keepsake bags using the Japanese hapa zome technique.

Tickets: Available at the museum ticket office or online. The number of places is limited.
Price: PLN 15 per person. (Please note: caregivers participating in the workshop are also required to purchase a ticket.)
