“That Summer, We Were Taken From Our Homes” – Guided Tour

We invite you to join a guided tour of the permanent exhibition at the Sybir Memorial Museum, dedicated to the deportations carried out in June 1940 and in May–June 1941.

The exhibition features numerous artefacts and eyewitness accounts relating to those events. It tells the story of people suddenly torn from their everyday lives – refugees fleeing eastwards and the inhabitants of the Eastern Borderlands, who suddenly lost their homes and were deported deep into the Soviet Union.

During the guided tour, we will take a closer look at these stories, focusing on selected accounts and objects that still bear traces of those events today. The guide will explain the similarities and differences between the deportations of June 1940 and those of May–June 1941.

The tour tells the story of lost homes, separated families and the struggle to survive in an entirely new reality. It is also a story of the objects, photographs and personal accounts that help us remember those events today.

Date: 21 June 2026
Time: 11:45 a.m.
Duration: approximately 90 minutes

Free admission
Free tickets can be collected at the Museum ticket office from 16 June.
