During the tour, our guide Paweł Kalisz will recount the harrowing stories of the Skrzędziejewski, Pluta and Szmidt families, some of whose members were victims of the Katyn Massacre, whilst the rest were deported to the East by the Soviets.

The tour will take place on Sunday 12 April, just before the 86th anniversary of these tragic events.

13 April is the Day of Remembrance for the Victims of the Katyn Massacre and the anniversary of the second mass deportation of Poles to the East. On this day in 1940, the Soviets deported the families of Polish Army officers and uniformed service personnel taken prisoner in the autumn of 1939, who were murdered at the same time in Katyn and other locations, as well as the families of civilians held in prisons.

The Soviets murdered them without trial, solely on the basis of a political decision. Their families, mainly women and children, were deported to Kazakhstan.
