On April 16, we invite you to an author’s meeting with Krzysztof Suchowierski – a traveler who cycled across Siberia in winter, reaching places connected with the history of deportations and the Gulag system.

In 2014, Krzysztof Suchowierski, together with two companions, set off on a winter cycling expedition across Yakutia. They covered nearly 3,500 kilometers, traveling from south to north in temperatures dropping as low as –55°C.

The “Roads of Memory” expedition led to sites associated with the exile of political prisoners. It was an attempt to commemorate the victims of repression and to draw attention to the experiences of people condemned by a totalitarian regime to life in the Gulag system. The extreme conditions of the journey allowed the participants to better understand the scale of hardships faced by the exiles.

During the meeting, the author will speak about the realities of a winter journey through Siberia – the physical effort, the everyday challenges of the road, coping with extreme temperatures, as well as the encounters and experiences along the way.
