We cordially invite you to the XIII National Scientific Conference of “Jews of Eastern Poland” series.

The subject of this edition, which is held on May 27-28, will be Jewish travels and Jewish travelers in Central and Eastern Europe.

The conference will be held in two locations in Białystok: on May 27 at Książnica Podlaska on ul. Mari Skłodowskiej-Curie 14A, and on May 28 at the Sybir Memorial Museum on ul. Węglowa 1.

On Tuesday, May 28, one of the speakers will be Anna Pyżewska – a Scientific Department of the Sybir Memorial Museum employee. She will talk about the wartime fate of Paulina and Artur Włodawer. Paulina and Artur Włodawer were a young married couple living in Warsaw. In October 1939, they fled across the green border to the territories occupied by the USSR. In 1940, Paulina and Artur were deported from Łuck to Siberia. After being released from exile in 1941, they settled in Kazakhstan.

The conference programme also includes a special guided tour of the permanent exhibition at the Sybir Memorial Museum. The tour will be conducted by Marcin Zwolski PhD,  Head of the Scientific Department of the Sybir Memorial Museum.
