This will not be another history lesson from a textbook. Instead, it is an opportunity to encounter the real stories of people whose lives\u2014despite being separated by thousands of kilometres, different cultures, and contrasting political realities\u2014were shaped by loss, separation, persecution, and the struggle to preserve their dignity.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Can the experiences of people living on different continents, in different historical and political contexts, be similar? What is the thread that connects their lives despite the vast distances between them?<\/p>\n\n\n\n

During the workshop, participants will listen to authentic testimonies of witnesses to history and explore works of art and personal testimonies from different parts of the world. Together, they will discover the shared experiences of people affected by political repression\u2014from Sybiraks, victims of Stalinist terror, to Chileans who lived under Augusto Pinochet’s dictatorship.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The workshop offers a broader perspective on history, moving beyond the experience of a single country or historical event. It shows that, although state violence takes different forms and occurs in different places, it often leaves similar marks on the lives of individuals and their families.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The programme concludes with a curator-led tour of the temporary exhibition Arpilleras \u2013 Threads of Memory<\/em>, featuring textile artworks in which art becomes a testimony to history, a means of remembrance, and a form of resistance to state violence.
