The Sybir Memorial Museum has acquired more valuable objects: two banners belonging to the branches of the Association of Siberian Deportees: Gda\u0144sk-Wrzeszcz and Gda\u0144sk-Przymorze. They have been donated by the Gda\u0144sk Branch of the Association of Siberian Deportees.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The official donation was attended by the guests from Gda\u0144sk, including Irena Witort \u2013 Secretary of the Gda\u0144sk Branch of the Association of Siberian Deportees, El\u017cbieta Duklant \u2013 Treasurer of the Gda\u0144sk Branch of the Association of Siberian Deportees, Jan Okulicz \u2013 Vice President of the Gda\u0144sk Branch of the Association of Siberian Deportees, Janina Jurzynek \u2013 President of the Gda\u0144sk Midtown Branch, Kordian Borejko \u2013 President of the Main Board of the Association of Siberian Deportees, and Jolanta Hryniewicka \u2013 President of the Bia\u0142ystok Branch of the Association of Siberian Deportees.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“On behalf of the Main Board of the Association of Siberian Deportees, I would like to thank that the museum management approved our request and accepted these very valuable banners that, have served us for many years into their collection. I hope that this memento from Gda\u0144sk will serve the youngest generation and remind them of the fate of our compatriots over the centuries. I would also like to congratulate the Museum on receiving the 2024 Council of Europe Museum Prize. The Sybir Memorial Museum is unique not only in Europe but perhaps in the world. I wish it would serve future generations. We, Sybiraks, are passing away, but such a beautiful initiative as the Museum will remain,” said Kordian Borejko during the handover.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Anna Bielawska-Puchalska from the Collection Department of the Sybir Memorial Museum also spoke at the event:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“We are very grateful for this gift and pleased that more objects have been added to our collection. We hope this is a good prognosis for future\u00a0 that will strengthen the cooperation between the museum and the branches of the Association of Siberian Deportees,” she said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Collecting, developing, and sharing our collections are very important aspects of the Sybir Memorial Museum\u2019s activities. Currently, the museum’s collection consists of 10,000 objects. Every memorabilia is extremely valuable to us and carries a story that we want to pass on to future generations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Once again, thank you for all the donated objects.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
