On May 23rd (Thursday) at 6:00 p.m<\/strong>, next meeting in the series with travelers, writers, and people curious of the world will take place.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This time, our guests will be members of the \u201eJedno\u015aladami Andersa\u201d team<\/strong>, who in several teams, have cycled almost the whole trail traveled by Anders\u2019 Army \u2013 from Kazakhstan through Uzbekistan, Iran, Iraq, the Holy Land, Egypt, Italy to Great Britain.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A scout bike relay race entitled \u201eJedno\u015aladami Andersa\u201d was organized by the World Scout Jamboree, the Polish Scouting Association, and the association called \u201cNowak’s Africa\u201d. The Sybir Memorial Museum, as part of the sponsorship, supported the organizers and participants substantively \u2013 we conducted historical lectures, thanks to which they learned the exact route of Anders\u2019 Army and could plan the route intentionally. During the journey, cyclists contacted us multiple times to get information about the places they were passing through.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The \u201eJedno\u015aladami Andersa\u201d project aimed to remind people of the route of the army, which General W\u0142adys\u0142aw Anders formed in 1941 from Polish citizens residing in the USSR \u2013 among them thousands of Siberian deportees. Thousands of civilians \u2013 women, children, and elderly \u2013 were evacuated with the army. For all of them, the trek with Anders Army was the only chance to leave the ‘Soviet hell.’<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Cyclists started in Kazakhstan in November 2022. They reached the finish line in Edinburgh (by the statue of Wojtek the Bear) in July 2023..<\/p>\n\n\n\n
