Piotr Brysacz is a graduate of Polish studies and a journalist. In 2018, he founded the Pa\u015bny Buriat Publishing House<\/a> together with his wife, Maja Witecka-Brysacz \u2013 a graphic artist, illustrator and book designer.<\/p>\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n

Pa\u015bny Buriat’s editorial activity is closely related to the Looking at the East Literary Festival<\/a>, which is organized in the summer in Buda Ruska, in the home of Agnieszka and Piotr Malczewski \u2013 where the idea of establishing the publishing house was born. (The traveler and photographer Piotr Malczewski is one of the authors publishing with the Pa\u015bny Buriat; he was also a guest at the Sybir Memorial Museum \u2013 here you can read about the meeting, where he talked about his travels to Baikal lake)<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Pa\u015bny Buriat Publishing House \u2013 as its founders declare \u2013 publishes books “related to the broadly understood East, which begins east of the Vistula” and north-eastern Poland. These are travel reports, essays, novels, biographies and interviews, as well as publications about the relationship between man and nature. The bestsellers include books about the history, culture and nature of Podlasie and the Suwalki region.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The pretext for the meeting at the Sybir Memorial Museum on April 18th at 6 p.m. will be the next edition of the book “Looking at the East. Space, Man, Mysticism\u201d (copies of which will be available for purchase).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This will be the third edition of the collection of conversations that Piotr Brysacz conducted, among others, with: Andrzej Stasiuk, Mariusz Wilk, Magdalena Skopek, Micha\u0142 Ksi\u0105\u017cek and Wojciech G\u00f3recki. Brysacz’s interlocutors, travelers, writers and researchers, talk about their journeys and relationships with the broadly understood East:<\/p>\n\n\n\n
