\u201cTo the Taiga and the Steppe! How were people deported to Sybir (1940-1941)\u201d is the latest publication of the Museum, which appeared in the popular science series \u201cSYBIR\u201d.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Professor Albin G\u0142owacki is one of the most outstanding specialists dealing with the fate of the Polish population in the East and the Soviet repressions against Poles. He is one of the few historians who started researching these threads back in the times of the Polish People’s Republic, when it was almost a forbidden topic. He was also one of the first Poles who accessed the Soviet archival documentation made available by the Russians in the 1990s. The effects of his work include over 300 publications published in 12 languages. Many of them have been awarded in recognized competitions, and the monograph “The Soviets towards Poles in the eastern territories of the Second Polish Republic 1939-1941” is considered a canonical work among experts on the subject.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In the book \u201cTo the Taiga and the Steppe! How were people deported to Sybir (1940-1941)\u201d, published by the Sybir Memorial Museum, professor G\u0142owacki focused on presenting the process of Soviet preparations to carry out massive deportation operations. Thanks to this innovative approach, he was able to see many hitherto underestimated elements of this repression and clarify some of the doubts related to it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The meeting will take place in a unique space \u2014 at the permanent exhibition of the Sybir Memorial Museum and will be accompanied by a presentation of archival photos.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
