    The Belarusian Revolutionary Organization (or the Belarusian Revolutionary Party) was one of the first communist organizations on the north-eastern territories of the Second Republic of Poland. In 1921 and 1922 more pro-communist groups emerged, whose members later staffed the Communist Party of Western Belarus (KPZB). The party consisted of six districts: Białystok, Vilnus, Brest, Pinsk, Hrodna and Baranovici.

    Soviet Occupation in Białystok Province (1939-1941)

    The German – Soviet Nonagression Pact (the Molotov – Ribbentrop Pact), which was signed on August 23 1939, accelerated the outbreak of World War II. On September 17 1939 at 3 a.m. (Polish time) the Red Army crossed the Polish border and took possession of north-eastern Poland. The Belarusian Front was commanded by General Mikhail Kovalov.
